And Try-outs for JCC Maccabi Games in the U.S.

Try-outs will take place during December and early January for the JCC MetroWest Delegation to the Maccabi Experience in Israel (Games & ArtsFest) and the JCC Maccabi Games in the U.S., which will be held this year in Philadelphia, Pa. Please visit the JCC MetroWest website in early November at www.jccmetrowest.org/maccabi for a list of try-out dates and times.  An informational meeting about the Maccabi Experience in Israel, a world famous Olympic-style event filled with Jewish content and values, will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 7:30pm, at the Leon & Toby Cooperman JCC, 760 Northfield Avenue, West Orange.

 The JCC Maccabi Games and JCC Maccabi ArtsFest (known collectively as the JCC Maccabi Experience) will be held this summer in Israel.  The 12 day Maccabi Experience (Sunday, July 24-Friday, August 5, 2011) will include: Opening Ceremonies, 4 days of sports competition or learning and creating with master teachers, host family weekend, Closing Party, and touring Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and the Negev. JCC MetroWest is looking for Jewish teenagers, ages 14-17 years (as of July 31, 2011) to share in the fun of competing in sports and creating and learning with master artists.

Sports being offered in Israel are Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Bowling, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, and Girls Volleyball.  JCC MetroWest will field teams in Boys and Girls Soccer. There may be additional spaces available for other sports. Arts Specialties offered in Israel include Acting/Improv, Broadcast Journalism, Culinary Arts, Dance, Jazz, Photography, Rock Music, and Visual Arts.  JCC MetroWest will take teens in any of the art specialties but spaces are limited. 

The JCC Maccabi Games in the U.S. will be hosted this year in Philadelphia, Pa. on Monday, August 14-Friday, August 19, 2011. The program includes Opening Ceremonies, 4 days of sports competition in individual and team sports, staying with host families, tzedakah project, a Day of Caring and Sharing project, evening social activities and Closing Ceremonies. JCC MetroWest is looking for Jewish athletes, ages 13-16 years (as of July 31, 2011).
