MLK Day is also a Day of Service & Volunteering

As a prominent leader in the civil rights movement, we honor Martin Luther King Jr.'s memory, life and legacy on the third Monday in January. Also known as the MLK Day of Service, it's an opportunity to get your kids to volunteer and give back to your New Jersey community. Your local YMCA, schools, and libraries may sponsor activities, so check them out. See a list of family friendly activities below.

Newark Museum - Community Day Martin Luther King Jr: Stronger Together

MLK Day at Visual Arts Center of NJ

MLK Day of Service at Reeves-Reed Arboretum

Martin Luther King Jr. Day at National Constitution Center

Monday, January 20, 2025, 10am-5pm. FREE Admission. Programs at the National Constitution Center include reading of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, family concerts by “Two of a Kind" music duo, and a First Amendment Exhibit. Cooking for the Civil Rights Movement at New-York Historical Society
