Top 5 Historic Sites
Old Barracks Museum - The Old Barracks serves as a destination for visitors from around the world as well as an educational center for Colonial and American history. Nearly 20,000 school children and thousands more people from all over the world visit the Old Barracks every year, making it one of the most visited sites in New Jersey and one of the most important historic sites in the United States. The Old Barracks staff provides guided tours and interpretations of American colonial life. The building offers a museum of 18th century artifacts and weapons, as well as a gift shop.
Whitesbog Village - In the early 1900’s, Whitesbog was the largest cranberry farm in New Jersey. Its founder, Joseph J. White, was a nationally recognized leader in the cranberry industry. Whitesbog is an important part of New Jersey history and the history of the blueberry and cranberry culture in the United States. It is listed on both the National and State Registers of Historic Sites. Whitesbog includes the village and the surrounding 3,000 acres of cranberry bogs, blueberry fields, reservoirs, sugar sand roads and Pine Barren’s forests. The grounds are open from dawn to dusk, 365 days a year, as part of the Brendan T. Byrne State Forest. They are hosting a Blueberry Festival June 27 this year.
Walt Whitman House – Step back in time to the humble dwelling of the "Good Gray Poet," Walt Whitman. Constructed in 1848, this modest wooden-framed structure built in Greek-revival style was the only home ever owned by Walt Whitman. Here is where Whitman grew to international fame as the author of Leaves of Grass, hosted visitors from around the world and completed his last comprehensive volume of poetry before his death in 1892. Today, as a New Jersey State Historic Site and a National Historic Landmark, the restored Whitman House welcomes visitors from around the world who come to experience the last worldly surroundings of America's great "Poet of Democracy."
Heritage Glass Museum – They are devoted to preserving and promoting the legacy of South Jersey’s Glass Making History. They are featuring a new exhibit called “Got Milk?” which highlights all the unique containers used to carry milk.
Haddonfield's Indian King Tavern is one of New Jersey's most historic buildings. Named for the local Lenape Indians, it is a premiere example of eighteenth-century colonial tavern architecture as well as the site where New Jersey was legally created.

Paws Farm Nature Center - Learning is designed to be fun at Paws Farm. They offer classes and story hours, animal programs and birthday parties, as well as special events throughout the year. Stony Brook Millstone Watershed Association - The Watershed Association serves more than 10,000 children and adults through nearly 400 education programs and events each year. Their programs inspire an appreciation of the wonders of nature and explain what we can all do to protect our environment. More than 10 miles of trails, a butterfly house, organic farm, environmental programs, and nature center are all located here for you to enjoy.
Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park - The Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park is one of NJ's most popular destinations for hiking, biking, kayaking, birding and outdoor activity. Beyond its 70+ miles of historic towpath/rail trails, the D&R Canal also offers patrons a number of natural and historical resources, including 160 species of birds, wooden bridges, canal locks, historic bridge & canal houses, and former mill sites.
Fireball Mountain – Head to Fireball Mountain to experience outdoor laser tag in NJ, the most exciting laser tag game to hit the area (NJ, NY, PA).
