Here are some family friendly parks to enjoy with the whole family if you're in the Mercer County NJ area.

Hamilton Veterans Park

This incredible park is home to many entertaining outdoor activities. There are walking and biking paths, ball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts and a playground that is suitable for children of all ages. The dog park is separated into areas for large and small dogs. Many events are hosted at the park throughout the year with the Fourth of July Fireworks being the most popular.

Memorials for veterans are located throughout the park. 9/11, Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day are celebrated here annually. Picnic areas, restrooms and water fountains are placed throughout the park for visitor convenience.

Marquand Park

Marquand Park and Arboretum is a beautiful preserve of trees and more that has many recreational and educational experiences. The park is full of over 140 different tree varieties and 8 of the largest trees of their species in New Jersey. There are several paved trails, a baseball field in the north west lawn and benches and picnic tables.

The large playground is popular and has a sand pit with dump trucks. It is geared towards smaller children. Visitors can bring young kids to play and have a picnic all throughout the year. The park also holds many events throughout the year such as artist events.

Mercer County Park

Comprised of 2,500 acres Mercer County Park is full of activities for all ages throughout the year. This huge park has various athletic fields used for soccer, football, lacrosse, frisbee, softball and baseball. There are over 25 tennis courts in their Tennis Center as well as indoor and outdoor skating at the Ice Skating Center.

The Marina is located on Mercer Lake. Visitors may rent or bring canoes, kayaks, small sailboats, pedal boats or row boats. The Marina has a boathouse, picnic area, beach volleyball courts, a snack bar, restrooms and a playground that is accessible for children with special needs. Fishing is permitted at the lake as well.

The Dog Park is located on Old Trenton Rd in West Windsor and has separate areas for small and large dogs. The park has a 3.3 mile paved trail and a 2.4 mile bike path as well as several trails for hiking. The Festival Grounds are home to many music, charity and sports shows throughout the year. There is a Vietnam Memorial and a 9/11 Memorial located in this incredibly large and popular park.

Rosedale Park

Rosedale Park is a wonderful 472 acre place for walking, running, hiking, biking, fishing and more. The Rosedale Lake is available for boating, kayaking and fishing. There is a small floating dock and a boat launch as well. The trails link up to Mercer Meadows which has a lot of outdoor history exhibits. The trails also go through the Equestrial Center, Master Gardener Center and Main Street Pennington.

There are two playgrounds for children of all ages. The dog park is separated into two areas for small and large dogs. The park has baseball diamonds, a volleyball court and a basketball court.

Washington Crossing Historic Park

Washington Crossing Historic Park is well known for its trails and wildlife. The Open Air Theater is full of events including live theater for adults and children, musicals and concerts. The Washington Crossing Visitor Center Museum has exhibits that feature historical events from 1776 through 1777. The Center is open every day from 9am to 4pm and hosts events throughout the year.

The Swan Historical Foundation is open year round as well and exhibits military history from the American Revolution. The Johnson Ferry House is an 18th century farmhouse that holds living history demonstrations every weekend. The Nature Center is open Wednesday through Sunday year round and hosts interpretive programs. The park also has over 15 miles of trails, camping and picnicking.
