Did you know that Monarch butterflies are the only insect that migrate to escape cold weather – and that some will travel up to 2,500 miles? This migration starts in October each year – butterflies east of the Rockies head to Mexico, while those west of the Rockies fly to California – and they will settle in the same exact trees year after year, even though they are the fourth generation of butterflies who were there the previous year.
Want to know more about this fascinating migration? Check out the IMAX movie, “Flight of the Butterflies” at the Liberty Science Center! For more info: http://lsc.org/see-whats-happening/movies-imax-3d/
