Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child in Summit is offering an abbreviated version of its popular summer Kindergarten Ready program (for students rising into kindergarten) Monday-Thursday the weeks of June 8 and June 15! Kindergarten Ready is academically based and includes opportunities for play and socialization. Students will engage in language and cognitive learning through fine and gross motor development and phonetic based-learning. As emergent readers, students will start to become comfortable with printed words and gain skills in sight word recognition as well as phonetic decoding. Students will be introduced to counting, graphing, and measurement using manipulatives such as pattern blocks. Students will learn to recognize, duplicate, and create patterns of all kinds. Socialization will be fostered through group activities. Our program promotes independence, decision-making skills, confidence, and cooperation. These young students should be prepared for kindergarten at the end of this course. This program is open for children ages 4 to 5. Children must be 5 by Oct. 1 and fully toilet-trained. No pull-ups!
