The FARE Walk for Food Allergy, presented by Mylan Specialty L.P., raises critical funds and awareness each year to support FARE’s mission to improve the quality of life and the health of individuals with food allergies, and to provide them hope through the promise of new treatments. This year, tens of thousands of people will gather at walks in nearly 60 communities nationwide to support their loved ones, friends, co-workers and neighbors living with life-threatening food allergies. Benefiting Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE), the FARE Walk for Food Allergy offers fun activities for the entire family while helping to advance food allergy research, education, advocacy and awareness initiatives.

The June 7, 2015 Lakewood BlueClaws v. Hickory Crawdads game serves as a prelude to the FARE Walk for Food Allergy-Lakewood (www.foodallergywalk.org/lakewood2015) on October 11, 2015 at the BlueClaws Stadium.

Food allergies are a serious and growing public health issue. Researchers estimate that up to 15 million Americans have food allergies. This life-altering and potentially life-threatening disease affects 1 in 13 children in the United States. There is no cure for food allergy, and with nearly 40 percent of children with food allergies having already experienced a severe or life-threatening reaction, the need for improved treatment, increased education and public policy that promotes safety and inclusion is urgent.
