Chinese New Year Celebration
Gallop into the Chinese New Year to celebrate the Year of the Horse—and learn more about how the Lunar New Year is celebrated throughout Asia—at this annual, daylong extravaganza. The whole family can enjoy a wide variety of music and dance performances, martial and healing arts demonstrations, Feng Shui and folk tale presentations, children's activities, storytelling, and arts and crafts. Annual Celebration of African Cultures
The 25th annual Celebration of African Cultures comes alive with special programs to delight the entire family. Traditional storytelling, electrifying African dance and music performances and workshops, children's activities, gallery tours, and more enliven the Museum. Free with Museum admission. Second Sunday of each month, 1:00 - 4:00 pmFamilies of all ages are invited to deepen their experience, learn and discover together at these monthly, walk-in workshops offered in the new Education Classroom. Activities change each session. Programs are free with Museum admission, and advance registration is only required for groups of 10 or more. To register, call 215.898.4016.
Hamsa
Kids and families can drop in and learn about the hamsa, a palm-shaped design popular throughout the Middle East and North Africa, commonly used in jewelry and wall hangings. Participants trace their hands and get creative with mixed media, before exploring the Islamic Near East Gallery with a scavenger hunt.
Hieroglyphic Valentines
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and kids and families can start celebrating at this drop-in workshop. Participants can show their love for their mummy, daddy, sibling, or friend by creating a valentine written in Egyptian hieroglyphs.Gallery Romps

In this Gallery Romp, children are introduced to Harry's friend—a horse only he can see. Then guests meet Curly and Autumn Dew, the Museum's 1,000-year-old horses! Sleepover Programs

Penn Museum's popular sleepover program, geared to ages 6–12 and their families or chaperones, invites guests to an overnight "expedition" of the Museum. The night's activities take intrepid explorers on a journey through time and across continents, with hands-on games, crafts, and more! A scavenger hunt and a flashlight expedition through the galleries offer new ways to connect with the ancient artifacts awaiting discovery. Later in the night, explorers roll out their sleeping bags to doze at the foot of the largest granite Sphinx in the Western Hemisphere!
