Leading the Way Forward in Special Needs Education

CTC Academy Executive Director, Anne Ogden is pleased to announce that Sue Brand, MAEL, MA, MSEd joined The CTC Academy as the new Fair Lawn Principal this summer. Sue Brand has been working in special education for over 28 years - as a special education teacher, supervisor, director and School Principal. Her experience makes her a great fit for the Fair Lawn Campus students, families, staff and volunteers.

Principal Brand mentioned that she was, “...so impressed with the diverse programming available for the students at the CTC Academy.”  When discussing her educational philosophy, Sue said, “...it aligns perfectly with CTC’s multi-sensory approach and I love CTC’s ‘process not product’ philosophy that I believe helps individualize programming and provides each student the best chance for success.”

Cara Rogerino replaced William Presutti as Principal of The CTC Academy Oakland campus when he retired this spring. Principal Rogerino has been with CTC for 18 years, starting as a special education teacher, supervisor of curriculum and for the last five years as Principal of CTC Academy’s Fair Lawn campus. CTC is fortunate to welcome a seasoned leader into this important role.

Principal Rogerino told the staff that she was looking forward to working with new and former colleagues in Oakland and that July, “...was a great month and I am looking forward to a great and exciting school year.”

CTC Academy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides educational and therapeutic services for students with a diverse array of developmental disabilities through our collaborative educational program and support services for students and families.

The CTC Academy first opened its doors as the Cerebral Palsy Center of Bergen County, NJ, on March 29, 1950. What began as a center for children with Cerebral Palsy has evolved into an organization that provides education and therapies to students with many different types of disabilities – students who face physical, medical and developmental challenges.

CTC is one organization that exists on two campuses and follows the school continuum from Preschool through age 21 as well as Early Enrichment for children ages 18 months through 3 years. The Fair Lawn Campus serves students 18 months through 6 years of age. The Oakland Campus serves students 6 through 21 years of age.
