Summer Writing at Write on Sports Summer Camp, Write on Arts Summer Camp

Summer Writing and Multimedia Camp
Write on Sports Summer Camp uses sports as the theme as a way to connect with students in an authentic and meaningful way. During camp, we turn the students into sports writers to strengthen their writing and literacy skills. Students pick a theme of their choice (related to sports) and identify a project including a feature article or fiction story. They will also work on a multimedia project, either a video or a podcast episode. Another feature of camp are the Guest Days; bringing in professional journalists (from TV, radio and print media outlets) and athletes (ranging from college, professional and retired professionals). We include a sports related field trip.
Write on Arts Summer Camp will take a similarly expansive approach to the arts to include theater, music, fine arts, and culture. Students will pick a theme of their choice (related to the arts) and identify a project including a feature article or fiction story. They will also work on a multimedia project, either a video or a podcast episode. Guest Days will feature professional journalists (from TV, radio and print media outlets) and artists (ranging from local, up-and-coming, professional and retired professionals). We include an arts related field trip.
This is a low cost summer writing camp for eligible students ages 11-14, rising 7th-9th grades. Camps will be held at Montclair State University or Monmouth University from July 7 - August 1, 2025, 9am-3pm, with 2 or 3 week sessions.
FEE: $25 registration fee (non-refundable) Tuition fee waived for Partnering School Districts (see application); field trip, lunch and all supplies are included.
