The first exhibition to examine the lives, ideals, and contradictions of Abraham Clark, John Hart, Francis Hopkinson, Richard Stockton, and John Witherspoon, Five Independent Souls: The Signers from New Jersey displays over 100 extraordinary historic objects, including items not usually on public display and original works by Charles Willson Peale, John Trumbull, Joseph Dunkerley, Hiram Powers, and many other renowned Revolutionary-era artists.

The home of Richard Stockton, Morven itself is a National Historic Landmark and was briefly occupied by the British during the war, when Stockton became the only signer of the Declaration of Independence captured and held as a POW.
